Anybody heard of these things? I need one badly. My cats keep bringing field mice in and  leisurely torturing and killing them.

They brought one in the other night and brought it upstairs to bed for mummy. Poor thing was squeaking like hell but I couldn't catch it. I still haven't found it or its remains...

I think the fact your cat was purring with contentment and had a fat belly may answer that one.

I've cleaned up 5 dead mice in two days! The trap does not  seem to interest them and the cat is killing just for fun, since the corpses are undamaged.

Maybe I should kill the cat...

Let the cat do its thing. Nature red in tooth and claw etc.

My mum once got a humane trap to catch a rabbit that had got into her garden. It never caught anything so after a while she stopped checking it.

Months later she came across it and found a rabbit skeleton. The poor thing had got stuck in there and starved to death. The bitterest of ironies, in the effort to provide a humane death, she ended up inflicting the worst death imaginable. It's a cruel world.

Moral of the story - if you want to use humane traps, remember to check and empty them. Regularly.

Yeah, we've decided just to let Smarty be Smarty and to go on the rampage every evening, which is his nature.

Of course I check the traps first thing every morning!

I have some lethal mouse traps but they would probably take out the cat as well  Undecided

Oh god, NO! I will never, ever use lethal mouse traps again after my last experience with them: I had to use them on one occasion because we had house mice in the flat, and I found a poor mouse one morning whose nose was caught in the trap but who was still alive and kicking. He must have suffered horribly. I had to kill him with a brick.

Pit bulls aren't used to take down boar.

No prey drive.
