The good old U.S. - living in a kakistocracy

« on: March 29, 2017, 04:39:31 am »

I remember in my lifetime when the Pound was well over 4 to the U.S. dollar. With Brexit, we might see Even Stevens before too long.

When that happens, the €uro will be worth more than the £. Most excellent for my pension.

Blimey, you're old   Cheesy.  But you're right.  I can remember my dad referring to five shillings as 'a dollar', or two and sixpence as 'half a dollar'.

"Show us your pounds" isn't quite as appealing.

Some coarse fellow made that very joke in the Loggerheads only yesterday. Naturally I feigned innocence.

[Went to Barclays to get money out of the wall before that. No cash machines working -- "We had a power surge". Still not working three hours later. They also had no new £1 coins -- "None issued yet".]

"Not many of those in a pound, George."

"I would."

Shocking, the drifts of smut one has to wade through on this messageboard, especially from the older reprobates, such as, believe it or believe it not, "Hold on to your ejaculation" from Benbo. The tinkers.
