He also thought Reagan was great. Got to understand where he's coming from.

She was a very admirable lady.

She was a woman in a man's world. She was called names, made fun of and picked at - just because she was a woman making her way in the world of MP's. That was before she even got to be PM. There aren't many people, who could withstand that for year upon year.

She helped end the Cold War. That has to stand for something.

Thatcher did a lot of damage to the country but why are people rejoicing over her death?  She has had no influence in politics for years and I find this vitriole disturbing.

Because The Little People are too small-minded to comprehend the benefit of thinking beyond the warm n' fuzzies of what they think is sanctimonious hate.

What they're saying here is, in essence, "Hurrah! A little old lady has died!"

Mr Rosie is not even British, but he was so devastated by her death that he started rambling last night after we'd gone to bed and switched off the light: "I cannot express the depth of my sorrow and anguish at the death of Britain's saviour..." After 15 minutes of this, I put my earplugs in and let him get on with it.  Grin

I'm not devastated that she's dead. She had good innings. 87 is a good age.

I think it's pretty sick that people are happy delighted ecstatic, that an 87 yr old woman is dead.

She was no Pinochet or Pol Pot. She wasn't an evil tyrant who committed crimes against humanity.

There is no need to dance or piss on her grave.

Those fond of hysterical rhetoric and dishonest hyperbole; those so comfortable the only thing missing in their lives is the opportunity to scream righteously, may disagree.

Kind of view her as a necessary evil. Agreed with a lot of what she did, but didn't necessarily agree with the all or nothing confrontational style in which she did it. She moved the whole body-politic away from the left in general and that needed to happen. I just about remember the end of the seventies and it was shit.

Anyhoo, she is responsible for the best fairly sick celebrity death pun text I received in ages.....

Margaret Thatcher - Maggot Hatcher.

And....

Iron Lady - Rust in Peace.

Made me laugh anyway.
